FEATURE POET Jasmin Roberts is a queer, truth-telling poet angel born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. They are an alumnus of Oberlin College, and hold a graduate degree from UMass Amherst. Jasmin has lived in the Pioneer Valley for the last 8 years, and is the 2-time grand slam champion of Northampton Poetry. Jasmin competed in the 2017 Women of the World Poetry Slam as a storm poet, where they came in 4th overall, making it to the final round of competition.

Jasmin not only prides themself on writing hard-hitting and introspective poetry that educates and offers commentary on current world issues, but also likes to remind us not to take ourselves too seriously, using words like “fuckability” and “homotastic” on the regular. Jasmin will make you laugh your ass off and question your place in the world in the span of three minutes, and they’ll do it all sporting 4-inch heels and coveralls, just to fuck with your ingrained arbitrary sense of gender. They're here, they're hella queer, and they're a walking explanation of how gender is an imaginary thing that they eat for breakfast. And lunch. And dinner. Just like Santa, that shit ain't real, yo.

Jasmin's pronouns are they/them, and yes, they realize that this is usually used in instances of plurality, but they also realize that you'll live. Jasmin swears, you really will live. It's ok.
