This fall marks the 20th Anniversary of the publication of ALOUD:! Voices from the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, the seminal anthology that launched the birth of the Spoken Word Movement. To mark the moment -- and the reopening of the Bowery Poetry Club -- co-editors Miguel Algarin and Bob Holman will feature at a reading celebration at the Club on Sun, Oct 13, 7pm. Algarin, Founder of the Nuyorican and Professor Emeritis from Rutgers, will read and sing. His co-editor Bob Holman, who founded the Bowery Poetry Club in 2002, will co-host the evening with Mahogany Browne, the current host of the renowned Nuyorican Poets Cafe Poetry Slam, which Holman began in 1989.
