"Your Poetry Education on the Bowery"
Session 7: "Carving Out the Poem: You, Your Poems, and the 3-Dimensional World" with Poet Jon Sands.
When our life experience suggests that celebration always comes laced with melancholy, and joy is a border that surrounds sorrow; how can we construct writing that acknowledge a complicated and dynamic world? How do we avoid poems that transforms us into caricatures? How can we guide our readers into the experience of what it actually feels like to be us? In this workshop, we will explore tangible ways to reflect a 3-dimensional world in our writing. Bring a notebook, pen, and a sense of adventure as we take our art to the edge of the universe, and bring back proof that we’ve been there.
POETRY U: Eight master poet-educators teach their favorite eras/movements in the form and the poets who lead them. Attend at least seven of the eight classes and receive a POETRY U certificate. $20 for a single class, $100 for a season pass. Coffee included.
2-3:30pm Sundays: This is the Last Session this Season!
