Bowery Poetry, 308 Bowery, NYC (map)

The show will fuse spoken word poetry, Hip Hop (written and freestyle), and jazz (improvisational piano, harmonica, cello, and singing). The subject matter will explore the way the elite label certain people “crazy” so as to normalize suffering and self-obsession.

It will feature performances by Lily Myers (author of “Shrinking Woman”), Safia Elhillo (member of the NYU Slam Team that won the 2012 & 2013 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational), Alok Vaid-Menon (activist-extraordinar) Sam Friedman/Mel Hsu/Jess Best (improv-extraordinars), Cherkira Lashley (member of the 2013 & 2014 Wesleyan Slam Team), Tanaya Srini (a being made to singing) and E. Oks (aka Evan Okun aka the dude in sweat-pants who freestyles to himself on the NYC Subway).
