Bassist/composer JOE GALLANT (www.joegallant.com) founded his NYC-based 18-piece orchestra, Illuminati, in 1982 and has produced 8 CDs with the group. He received an Emmy award in 1996 during his years as a NYC network-tv and theater composer/sound-designer, and a selection of his film scores, experimental films and writings were chosen in 2006 for NYU’s Fales Collection (an internationally recognized collection of works of NYC artists and writers including William Burroughs, Patti Smith, Allen Ginsberg, John Giorno & Kathy Acker, among others). His writing/directing efforts have earned him 4 AVN Awards, European "Best Film" Awards, and screenings at Berlin, Milan and Paris film festivals. His recent feature, "The Skin Trade", stars Sasha Grey and is a Lynchian, retro vision of LA's underground xxx scene in the 70s, shot partially on Super-8. 3 of Joe's feature films are listed in the 2005 book, "The AVN Guide to the 500 Greatest Adult Films of All Time" (Thunder's Mouth Press), and he's currently prepping to direct "Grinder", a thriller based on the popular hookup app, with script by Brandon Ruckdashel. Joe is honored to be back at BPC, 10 years since his full-nude "Holy Madness Luv Trip" cast read works of Beat poets as part of 2004's Howl Festival.
