This month will feature Penny Arcade, Lee Breuer and special guest opener Timothy Liu.
Penny Arcade is considered the Queen of Underground Performance. She has also had a mainstream presence outside of America since 1993 and her work has been produced everywhere from Calgary to Sydney, London to Vienna, Rio to Zagreb,Zurich to Belfast, Oslo to Lisbon, Mexico City to Glasgow, Dublin to Vancouver. She has recently been named artist in residence at The Writers Room, a resource for New York writers since 1979.
Lee Breuer is an American playwright, theater director, academic, educator, film maker, poet and lyricist. He is a founding co-artistic director of Mabou Mines Theater Company in New York City, which he began in 1970 with colleagues Philip Glass, Ruth Maleczech, JoAnne Akalaitis, David Warrilow, and Frederick Neumann.
Timothy Liu is the author of nine books of poems, including Don't Go Back To Sleep, hot off the press from Saturnalia Books. His work has appeared in Best American Poetry, Bomb, Paris Review and The Pushcart Prize. His poems have been translated into ten languages, and his journals and papers are archived in the Berg Collection at the New York Public Library. Liu lives in Manhattan with his husband. We will be celebrating the release of his new book, Don't Go Back to Sleep (Saturnalia Press) at the event.
