MIRIAM GABRIEL (aka Miri / Maryam Imam) is a scholar and poet of some sort currently based in New York. She likes to write about dramatic interruptions to memory-making, linguistic heartbreaks, symbolic forms of feminist/womanist resonance/resistance, how political claims to mysticism can be, how class consciousness is never alone, and how awesome life can be when you have the NY subway. She received her Masters in Consciousness Studies from Goddard College and is currently pursuing a Masters in Middle Eastern Studies from CUNY. She has once shared the stage with the phenomenal poets Sonya Renee Taylor (2013), Mindy Nettifee (2014) and Robert Karimi (2015), and she has been published at the GC Advocate, Mizna, Reality Sandwich, Variance and TrIP. She has double street literacy in Arabic and English, fluent at Bearhugs, and intermediate in Suckerpunches. Mess with her at your own risk.
