Taking action on-stage and off: theatrical brainstorming with communities all over NYC.
"The Housing Circus" by Concrete Justice tackles the housing system in this wacky, complex and touching circus, based on the actors' own experiences.
Concrete Justice uses Theatre of the Oppressed as a medium for communal problem-solving on issues of homelessness, joblessness and related discrimination. The troupe has created/toured 4 original plays based on their lived experiences of the NYC shelter system, health care system and the transitional housing systems.
The performance will be followed by collective problem-solving onstage around the issues presented in the play. Actors and "spect-actors" engage in theatrical brainstorming in order to take transformative action in NYC.
