AYA PEREZ is a Black, Queer, Gender-fluid writer born and raised in New York City. They have performed at the Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe, The Apollo theatre, The Metropolitan Museum Of Art, The Lincoln Center, and The Washington Monument. Aaya is a member of the 2016 Urban Word slam team, placed as the second runner-up in the the New York Youth Poet Laureate Slam and has made a name for themself at Jersey City Slam. Aaya has had their work featured in Buzzfeed, JC radio, The Underground Railroad-WBAI and Rookie Magazine. Aaya uses poetry, music and visual art as a way to shed light on trauma the human side of politics, and the struggles of being an intersectional artist in modern western society.
