The Freedom Seeker:
An Immersive Migrant Performance

Tuesday, September 3 at 7:00 PM · Bowery Poetry Club. Free.

Bowery Poetry Club transforms into a borderland of stories, sound, and ritual.

From the new novel by Ruchira Gupta — writer, activist, and founder of Apne Aap — this immersive migrant performance is produced by Rattapallax and Shubra Prakash, supported by the New York State Council on the Arts and Bowery Poetry Club, and performed by migrant actors, with poetry and music interwoven. FACEBOOK Event page.

A 12-year-old girl crosses the desert to find her father in Queens. Voices rise. Walls dissolve. The audience becomes part of the journey.

The night closes with an open mic moment: audience voices answering the call — “What does freedom mean to you?”The three most powerful voices will win signed copies of The Freedom Seeker.

📖 Pro tip: pre-read the book and bring a line that speaks to you — it may give you the edge in the open mic competition.

📚 Signed copies of The Freedom Seeker will also be available after the performance. Quote cards with words from the book and a QR link to carry the story home will be shared. Buy the book at https://ruchiragupta.com/the-freedom-seeker/

Co-produced by Rattapallax, Inc. and Bowery Arts and Science, Ltd. Support was made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
